Just as she is right now

Here’s the context:  Marie is napping.  Anna has been outside playing since the moment she finished her breakfast.  She is covered in sunscreen from nose to toes and has chosen to only wear her undies in the backyard.  She came inside for a brief rest from the sun and decided to start singing the Mockingbird song.  ”Hush little baby, don’t say a word.”  We sing it almost every night, it’s in one of our nursery rhyme books that’s in rotation right now.

As she sat there, with her hair all warm and messy and smelling like outside, singing in her sweet, earnest, three-year-old voice, totally lacking any self consciousness, just loving life and who she is and all that there is to explore, I had to grab my camera to try and capture her little essence just as she is at this very moment.  It just changes so fast!  Literally, tomorrow, it won’t be the same!  Something will have changed!  Ah.  I love this beautiful girl with her big, enthusiastic heart and gentle nature.

18 Months

These two beautiful babies are 18 months apart, just two months less than my girls are.  During our shoot, I kept thinking back to those early days when Marie was first born and the new juggling act we were all having to learn with two kiddos under two in our house.  We had some hairy moments there at the start, but now I am so grateful that they are so close in age and won’t remember a time in their lives when the other wasn’t around.

What would siblings be without a little rivalry, even right from the start??  I had to throw this one in because the moment it captures is just so priceless.  I think this is one for the wedding slideshow!!

Great Expectations

I got to hang out with this beautiful mom-and-dad-to-be yesterday and document their excitement as they countdown the last few weeks until their little one arrives.

Princess and the Pea

Some friends and I got together today for a shoot where we re-created a Princess and the Pea scene, complete with seven little princesses and one larger-than-life pea.  I hope to be doing more shoots like this — recreating fairy tale scenes and giving them a few personal and modern touches.  We all had too much fun not to do this again!  If you’re interested in jumping in on the next one, please contact me and I’ll let you know once I get something scheduled.

A Real Spring

We are LOVING these 75 degree, sunny, gorgeous spring days here in Texas!!  After spending last spring in Chicago, with 45 degrees and rain practically every day for two months straight, we are definitely not taking this sunshine for granted.
