Brand New

“I love these little people; and it is not a slight thing when they, who are so fresh from God, love us.” ~Charles Dickens

Seriously, you guys…Madison has some of the most amazing photo locations, doesn’t it?  Water, forest, grasslands, you name it.  I just love living here!

Since the weather was so lovely today, Anna and I ventured out to take her five year portraits.  Our time with this shoot will go down in my memory as one of my most favorite afternoons in my life.  She was so excited to be doing this with me, the light could not have been more gorgeous, and watching her have such confidence and pride made my heart swell with love and gratitude.

After a month, we are finally feeling a bit settled in Madison.  The last few weeks have been a total whirlwind.  Between the 16 hour drive from Texas, living in a hotel for almost two weeks, finally getting our stuff from the movers, unpacking, getting the girls registered for school in the fall, and finding summer activities to keep all of us occupied, it has been a bit nuts.  But, as we slowly find our bearings, we can’t quite believe how lucky we feel to have landed here.

We also celebrated Marie’s 3rd birthday a few weeks ago!  I just had time this week to finally sit down and create her 3rd Birthday Diary.  I love this earnest, big-hearted, growing girl!

I have an announcement coming up soon about a fun new expansion of my business, so check back in a week or so for that news.  I am so excited about it and can’t wait to share.

I hope you’re all having a fabulous summer.

Packing Up

These are some of our dearest friends here in Amarillo, and I’ve had the joy of photographing them more than once (here and here and here, just to name a few).  I had to say goodbye to them right after this shoot as they were leaving the next morning for Montana (for the whole summer!  Lucky!), and if you’d driven down 6th Street at about 8:00 on Friday night, you would have seen me and Manda standing on the sidewalk crying our eyes out.  I had no idea when we moved here that I’d make such a dear friend in this short time, and it was so hard to say goodbye!

We are eight days from the movers coming to pack us up and whisk us away to Madison. If you would have told me two years ago that it would be this hard to say goodbye here, I would have never believed you.  Life is funny that way.  It can surprise you in ways you never dreamed.

Amarillo by Morning

It’s hard for me to believe, but this was my last family shoot in Amarillo as we are moving to Madison, Wisconsin in four short weeks!  We are so excited for this new chapter to begin, but it is definitely bittersweet to leave behind all of the friends we’ve made here in these last two years.  I am filled with gratitude for all of the sweet families I’ve been able to get to know and photograph here in Amarillo.  Thank you, thank you, thank you for your encouragement and support!  I hope I’ve filled your homes with memories and smiles that you can cherish for years to come.
